Apple TV+ has landed a series adaptation of Marissa Stapley’s best-selling novel Lucky, with Anya Taylor-Joy set to play the lead role.
The limited series, on which Taylor-Joy (Furiosa, The Queen’s Gambit) will also be an executive producer, comes from Apple Studios and Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine (the novel was a Reese’s Book Club selection in 2021). Jonathan Tropper (Apple’s See and the forthcoming Your Friends & Neigbhors) is the series creator and will serve as co-showrunner with Cassie Pappas (Silo, Griselda).
Lucky will be Taylor-Joy’s second project with Apple; she also stars in the feature film The Gorge, set to debut next year. Witherspoon also has a relationship with Apple TV+ via The Morning Show, where she stars and exec produces.
“Reese’s Book Club began with the goal of deepening connections — to the stories, to the storytellers, and to the community we are building,” Witherspoon said in a statement.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for What We Do in the Shadows Season 6, Episode 9, “Come Out and Play.”] What We Do in the Shadows saw the vampires of New York City step into the light for a very special occasion as Baron Afanas (Doug Jones) prepared to accept an Eternal Lifetime Achievement Award. But as with most plans in FX‘s beloved mockumentary, the Baron’s moment didn’t go as planned as he was joined by his “kids,” the vampires of Staten Island, Nandor (Kayvan Novak), Lazslo (Matt Berry), Nadja (Natasia Demetriou), and Colin Robinson (Mark Proskch). When the Baron is invited onto the stage to receive his honor, presenter and former forgotten Staten Island roommate, Jerry (Mike O’Brien), the disgruntled vampire tears down the figure with demeaning words. Jerry calls out the Baron for not fulfilling his promise to take over the continent, and Lazslo’s monster doesn’t take too kindly to it,...

Because this show flew into our lives and redefined one of the most iconic DC Comics couples ever, amid some unprecedented challenges. Firstly, it was the umpteenth Arrowverse-adjacent project to join the CW when superhero fatigue was just starting to set in. Secondly, it launched during Covid when productions were hobbled by safety protocols and limited promotional opportunities. Thirdly, it had the unenviable task of filling its lead roles with actors who could both embody these legends and appeal to a massive fandom packing big opinions. Colin Bentley/The CW Yet S&l soared, primarily due to it easily clearing that third hurdle. “Star Wars” has always been, on some level, for children. That’s neither condescension nor criticism: George Lucas created a swashbuckling fairy tale set in space, and its mantle has been taken up by successive generations of filmmakers who encountered it at a formative age. But, with the exception of “The Phantom Menace,” “Star Wars” stories have rarely been about children. That’s the value proposition of “Skeleton Crew,” the latest TV series from a franchise that now largely exists on the small screen. In a way, it’s also the most true to the saga’s DNA — or at...

A long time ago, back when Lucasfilm first shared plans to expand the “Star Wars” universe via live-action streaming television, the most exciting part was its limitless potential. While each movie traveled to new worlds, utilizing new doodads and revealing new creatures, there’s still a cap to how much of the galaxy you can see in a two-hour film. And that time limit only grew tighter when so much screentime was taken up by nostalgia: revisiting old worlds, reintroducing old creatures, and wielding old doodads. But unlike the big-screen franchise, not everything on the small-screen had to bend back to the Skywalker trilogy — or so it seemed, before “The Mandalorian” reintroduced Luke himself and set plans to become a movie of its own.

Is there an Edible Arrangement big enough to properly say, “I’m sorry for accusing you of killing my dad”? If so, Carlos owes one to Ranger Campbell after the fall finale of 9-1-1: Lone Star.

Usually, when a contestant doesn’t know the answer to their Wheel of Fortune bonus puzzle, it’s plain as day because they can’t hide their puzzled facial expression when the timer begins. But in a rare instance last week, a player had viewers convinced she would solve what many dubbed an “easy” bonus puzzle based on her reaction — before proceeding to do anything but. The swift turn of events occurred on Tuesday, November 26’s episode, and it involved contestant and “big hugger” Katheryn from Arlington, Tennessee. She won the game after racking up $14,176 in cash, a trip to Costa Rica, and barely overtaking opponent Oleh after Ryan Seacrest’s controversial host move of not reminding Oleh to pick a letter. She selected “Food & Drink” as her category. With her husband of 16 years cheering her on off-sides, Katheryn was faced with a three-word puzzle. She selected an “Mdco” as her additional letters.

In the Jeopardy! round, Beachy found the Daily Double instantly but took a far-flung guess on the “Cheers to Beer” bodybuilding clue seeking “Mr. Olympia.” She finished the round with $1,000, while Jones swept an “Anagrams Occupations” category like it was nothing for a wide lead of $6,000, and Ross had $3,400. [Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2.] Yellowstone has almost killed off one character per episode in what’s presumed to be its final season. Out of four episodes released so far (and just two more to go), three have featured a major character death. The first was John Dutton’s, brought about by Kevin Costner’s shocking exit from the series. Viewers assumed the Dutton patriarch would be killed off to explain Costner’s absence from Season 5 Part 2. But the subsequent deaths have been more shocking. Sarah Atwood’s (Dawn Olivieri) murder made sense for the story, given the hit she ordered on John didn’t go as planned in the aftermath. But the death of Denim Richards‘ Colby in Episode 12 was entirely unnecessary, if you ask us. [Editor’s Note: This article contains spoilers for Episode 3 of “Dune: Prophecy”]
Say whatever you will about Frank Herbert and Brian Herbert, but you cannot accuse them of being narrow in scope or not comprehensive in the fictional worlds they’ve built. There is a 10,000-year gap between the Denis Villeneuve “Dune” films and the events of “Dune: Prophecy,” and enough lore for production designer Tom Meyer to imbue every piece of that history into the design of the HBO series.
The assignment is a designer’s dream in many ways; Meyer needed to create a variety of extremely different environments that would be immediately visually distinct, even if they all share the same large-scale, imposing geometric force established in the films. But whether with the stern austerity of the Bene Gesserit base on Wallach IX or the cancerous grandeur that could potentially swallow up the Corrino family on Salusa Secundus, Meyer thought through how well, or how harshly, history would have treated them.

But whether with the stern austerity of the Bene Gesserit base on Wallach IX or the cancerous grandeur that could potentially swallow up the Corrino family on Salusa Secundus, Meyer thought through how well, or how harshly, history would have treated them.

Each episode of The Price Is Right features an undisclosed assortment of games, and that variety is part of its mass appeal. However, fans think it’s due time to either retire or change one segment in particular: the Time is Money game, which just saw a contestant come up very short — and short on breath. The Time is Money game is worth a maximum of $20,000 and is a staple of the game show despite being long branded as “impossible.” A player is shown five grocery items and then has just ten seconds to place each item on three shelves based on their prices. If they do so correctly, they win. If not (usually the case), there’s a redemption opportunity: they get 40 more seconds to rearrange the items correctly, with the prize pot decreasing every second. With each new guess, they must race over to a buzzer on side-stage to lock it in,...

Four of the five bonus rounds resulted in losses, leaving fans shocked and wondering if the producers should step in. On Tuesday, November 26’s episode, the contestant who proceeded to the coveted 10-second final puzzle was Katheryn. Her three-word “Food & Drink” puzzle read as, “‘_RO_EN’ ‘ORN_E_’ ‘_ _ _CE.'” She could not solve it as “Frozen Orange Juice,” losing out on an extra $40,000. On Wednesday, the dry spell continued for Adam, unable to figure out the “What Are You Wearing” puzzle, which read as “‘M_’ ‘F_N_ _’ ‘_LOTHE_’ was “My Fancy Clothes.” He got stuck on the middle word, thinking it was “Funky,” which cost him an extra $40,000. On Thursday, November 28, Jade missed her one-word “What Are You Doing?...
